Ambassador program
YPIowa initiated the Ambassador Program in January of 2009. Currently, there are three major regions and four communities participating in this program. These include:
NW Iowa: Sioux City
Central Iowa: Des Moines & Marshalltown
Eastern/Central Iowa: Quad Cities (Davenport, Bettendorf and surrounding areas)
Future plans include expansion of the program to other regions and communities throughout Iowa. In addition to our program Ambassadors, YPIowa Board members are assisting with connections in communities like Muscatine, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls/Waterloo, and the greater Des Moines area.
The primary program objectives are to engage volunteers throughout Iowa help to connect young talent seeking to move or stay in Iowa with career, business and community-based opportunities. This program provides local connections to aid YP job seekers in their efforts to find employment in Iowa.
YP Job seekers should send an e-mail to jobs@ypiowa.com with your resume, type of positions, industry, and location(s) you are interested in. Your information will be distributed to the appropriate local Ambassadors, who will connect you to local job search resources and opportunities that may not be published or promoted. Many young professionals find job opportunities through word-of-mouth referrals and networking via local YP organizations and Chambers of Commerce.
Employers should send emails to jobs@ypiowa.com with information about specific job openings that would be ideal for YP candidates looking to stay or move to Iowa. Regional Advisors and local Ambassadors will connect YP candidates with these opportunities.
Partner organizations should send emails to jobs@ypiowa.com with information about how you would like to partner with YPIowa and what opportunities might exist for cross promoting efforts and initiatives. If there is already a workforce development initiative in the community, we would like to know so that we can avoid duplicating efforts. Often times the best assistance we can be to young job seekers is to make them aware of job boards, local networking events or organizations that already exist.
